Our free training and technical assistance (T/TA) to State and Tribal child welfare agencies focuses on several core areas:

The types of T/TA services provided include:

  • On-site consultations to improve your agency's performance or to address a specific managerial problem or concern;
  • Technical assistance to design and implement new or improved management systems and reporting procedures and tools;
  • Training for administrators, managers and supervisors in the principles, methods and techniques of sound agency management;
  • Program evaluation and applied research support to determine the impact and effectiveness of programs;
  • Information on programs and efforts underway in child welfare throughout the United States.

Accessing Services
Call 1-800-HELPKID to discuss your T/TA needs or send us an email at with your questions. We will help you develop a specific T/TA work plan, detailing the purposes, anticipated outcomes, level of effort, and time frame for the intervention you need. We will work closely with the appropriate Administration for Children and Families (ACF) Regional Office as we develop this plan together with you. The ACF Regional Office must formally approve the plan before we provide any on-site T/TA. On-site T/TA for sub-state agencies (districts, counties, local offices, etc.) must be requested through a State's T/TA single point of contact.
